…You won’t believe it!!! You know all of the photos over the months of tough sections of the trail? Well, believe it or not, there is one section in Maine today known to all A.T. hikers as “The Toughest Mile!” Yes, meaning the toughest one mile stretch of the entire Appalachian Trail, Mahoosuc Notch!!! It is July 31 and there were icicles still there!!! GO FIGURE!!!

Thank you Gerald McKinney for identifying these photos of Spruce Grouse in Maine. The videos & photos are a hen with four little ones. I walked right up on them before I realized it. PRICELESS!!!

After darkness set in last night, I stealth camped at the only flat spot I could find. Little did I realize until I got out of my tent this morning that I had pitched my tent right on top of the state line! My feet slept in New Hampshire & my head slept in Maine!!!!!

Last night right at dark, I landed myself at this spot! The fourteenth and final state of my journey!!! It’s one of the longest and most rugged states, so I will be in Maine for almost a month before reaching my FINAL DESTINATION, MT. KATAHDIN!!!
